Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris)

Habitat: Known to live in tall grass jungles, woodlands, dry thorn forests. Require some vegetative cover, water and source of prey Reproduction: Males compete against others. Breeding is common from April-November. Give birth every 3-4 years. Offspring range from 1-7. Lifespan: In captivity: 16-18 years. In the wild: 8-10 years Food habits: Carnivorous. Hunt at night. Prey is dragged to cover and often left their for several days. General behaviour: Solitary animals. Hunt in dense vegetation. They are excellent swimmers and can cross rivers 6-8km wide. Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus)
Average weight: 60-70kg
Habitat: Prefer grasslands and desserts. Occasionally climb trees but remain terrestrial. Found in temperate and tropical conditions. Reproduction: Males provide no parental care and only associate with females during mating. Breed any time of year. Offspring range from 1-6. Lifespan: In captivity: 17 years. In wild: 8-12 years. Food habits: Carnivorous and eat gazelles and impalas. They first knock over prey then dig into it. Instead of stalking it, they charge from great distances. General behaviour: Territorial, mark territory by urinating. Non-territorial, cover ground fast and occupy land for only a few days. Conservation status: Endangered since 1970 |
African Lion (Panthera Leo)

Habitat: Live in Plains or savannah. Live in most areas expect for tropical or dessert (i.e. forested, shrubs and mountain). Can live in high altitudes. Reproduction: Have cubs every 2 years. Peek of breeding in rainy season. Offspring range from 1-6. Lifespan: In captivity: 13 years. In wild 14 years Food habits: Typically prey upon herd animals such as wildebeests and zebras. If food is scarce they will eat anything even scavenge food they did not kill General behaviour: Members of the pride come and go and are rarely together for long. Females are lifelong residents in their mother's pride, therefore are all related. Conservation status: Population numbers greatly declining. |
Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis)
Average weight: 4.5-17.3 kg
Habitat: Occasionally roam into tundra and found in mountains. Typically found in densely forested areas. Reproduction: Can breed once a year. Typically occurs in January and February. 1-6 offspring. Lifespan: In captivity: 25 years. In wild: 14.5 years Food habits: They are carnivorous and eat birds, rodents, small deer and even caribou. Although, their main food source is the snow hare. General behaviour: They solitary and sometimes the male and female will cross territories. They have great vision and mainly hunt at night. Conservation status: On US Federal List, they are threatened. |
Cougar (Puma concolor)
Average weight: 30-120 kg
Habitat: It can live in variety of environments, mountain forests, swamps, dessert, drylands and more. Reproduction: Females give birth every two years and can breed any time of the year. 1-6 offspring. Males will travel far for mate and reserve rights to females in their territory. Lifespan: In captivity: 20 years. In wild: 18-20 years. Food habits: Preys on medium to large animals, preferably deer. In the north it will prey on rodents and birds. In the tropics it will eat monkeys. General behaviour: Solitary expect for few days in mating season. They will mark territory by scratching a tree and leaving decal mater by the tree.
